Bespoke jewelery design
Since the doors opened in 2006, it has been BOLOU's core business to make completely unique, handmade jewelry for our customers, and together with our customers.
The fact that it is made in our own workshop means with us you always get the highest quality, that there are no casting holes, no porosity, that the prongs are as solid as they should be, that the stones are set optimally, that we know that the raw materials are the best - and not least where they come from. We inspect all our products with a magnifying glass before they either end up with the customer or on the presentationtray in the store. Few customers discover the array of things we quality-assure for, but we take great pride in knowing that the quality is top notch and that even under a magnifying glass the jewelery is beautiful. Most of the jewelery on the market today is either half or fully cast, renovated and then adapted to the customer. Our
jewelery is hand-forged, with reshaped material where you achieve a completely different structure compared to a cast piece of jewellery, this is of course a time-consuming process compared to the cast elements, and can also translates into the price, but it makes all the difference in relation to the quality, the elasticity and durability – not to mention the visual expression.

The design process
From idea to paper
The perfect design can stem from an array of different things – it can be a feeling, a source of inspiration or a inquiry from one of our customers. Regardless of the starting point, it requires equal parts analytical, technical and visual approach from our designers.
We start most projects by sketching a lot of ideas on paper, after which the chosen design is drawn cleanly in 1:1 size ratio and sometimes finally colored with watercolors. The design is drawn from several angles so that the jeweler can translate it completely correctly into the finished piece of jewellery.

A design can be very beautiful and compelling, but if the craftsmanship does not follow suit, the battle is lost anyway. That is why we are so proud to have some of Scandinavias' best goldsmiths and gem setters in our own workshop. We can promise our customers with peace of mind that even the most complicated tasks will be solved with both craftsmanship and technical ingenuity, experience and attention to detail.
