Size guide for rings - How to find your ring size

When you buy a new ring, it is crucial that the ring size is absolutely correct. It is important that your future ring fits perfectly on the finger. If you're unsure of which ring size to use, don't worry. We have put together some different methods that you can use to find the right ring size, regardless of whether you already have a ring or not.

How do you find your ring size?

When it comes to finding the right ring size, you can typically face two different scenarios. Either you have an existing ring that you can use to measure, or you can find your ring size by measuring your finger. Fortunately, there are methods to determine your ring size, regardless of which scenario you are in. You can also read our guide to finding the perfect engagement ring.

Find your ring size with an existing ring

If you already own a ring that fits perfectly, you can measure the inside diameter of the ring to find the ring size. So how do you measure your ring size? First, find a ruler or measuring tape with millimeter measurements and place the ring on it.

Once you have arrived at the inner diameter in millimeters, you can find the exact ring size in the infographic below. However, be aware of which ring you use to measure your ring size. Depending on whether it is a wide or a narrow ring, it can mean something for the ring size.

A wider ring, for example, has a wider surface on the finger, and therefore it will not actually be possible to convert directly to the size, as the wide rings often require you to go up a ring size.

Use your finger to measure your ring size

If you don't have a ring to measure against, you can use another method to find your ring size. Take a string, piece of paper or a soft measuring tape and wrap it around the finger where you want to wear the ring. Make sure the material fits comfortably and is neither too tight nor too loose. Mark the point where the ends meet and measure the length with a ruler. The string is then removed and you measure the distance between the lines. If the distance is 56mm, it means your ring size is 56.

Find the right ring size

Whether you're looking for the right ring size for men or the perfect ring size for women, it's important to be aware that ring sizes can vary slightly depending on factors such as temperature and time of day. Therefore, it is a good idea to measure the finger at the time when you expect to wear the ring the most.
